1851 Navy, all matching ser#,s with a very old 51 Navy holster. this old warhorse is a no finish gun. 10-15% scene left. the action is fine but a bit sluggish. gun locks up tight. the front sight was filed down a bit many years ago. there is some name scratch on the back strap & butt plate, but i cant read it. The grips are quite good though no varnish remains. Ser#202xxx which would have been mfg. in 1867.the holster is rather fragile the  leather piece that goes on the belt is missing & 2 holes were put in I believe a s a makeshift rig . i doubt if this worked ,& the wear on the holster would suggest it was just tucked in his belt. a very reasonably price old west rig.

A Colt Lightning with some history. this gun belonged to a Sheriff Bill Salsman of Old Linn Creek, MO. On the original holster is a very old tag which you can make out the date 1898- 1902 I have checked with the county & the Salman's were quite prominent there. one was sheriff from 1877 to 1882. another was sheriff from 1914 until 1918. the court house said he was probably a deputy sheriff. I will continue to research this gun. the gun is in very fine condition with literally all the blue & case hardening all though the case is faded.
