An early Sheffield bowie with an 8" blade made by Woodhead. The blade shows some darkining, the grips some small gouges, and are made of horn with an english lion sitting on the back. Marked George Woodhead 36 Hoard St. Sheffield. They were in business from 1845 untill 1859. I do not believe this the correct sheath for this particular knife but it is definitly the same period. These Woodhead bowies are quite scarce and desirable.

An old folding bowie knife, 1850-1870. Overall length 13 inches, the blade is 5 7/8 inches. I believe this is French, as it came out of northern Canada. looks like a fur trade skinning knife. The handle is wood and in very fine condition.

I
usually don't do many bowie's but this one caught my eye. I believe this is a
Louisiana made fighting knife, as that is where it came out of. No makers marks,
15 inches overall, with a 10.5 inch blade. Great ivory coffin handle grips. This
would be a circa 1840 bowie. These didn't have scabbards, you carried them in
your belt or waist band. One side if the knife has pitting, though not very
deep. Probably from sweat, the other side nearly none. great little piece of
early American frontier.

A
very fine condition 1818 Nathan Starr cavalry saber. except for a few age
blemishes I would be able to rate this near mint. this has the original Jappaned
black iron scabbard with no dent. a really neat old American sword.
